Two Iowa City facilities, designed by Neumann Monson Architects, have received 2023 Green GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Awards for their innovation, community-mindedness, and social impact. The two buildings recognized are:

  • Iowa City Public Works, Iowa City: A 100,000 square foot facility that consolidates three of the city’s five public works divisions. In addition to increasing the city’s efficiencies, it takes a significant step toward achieving the city’s climate action goals.
  • Cross Park Place, Iowa City: This facility provides permanent, unconditional housing to the chronically houseless population while giving care and dignity to residents.

According to a news release sent by Neumann Monson, this awards program is to bestow international recognition to individuals and organizations that have forwarded exceptional thinking and inspired greater progress toward a more healthy and more sustainable world.

52 awards were given in the Green Architecture category, three of which went to Neumann Monson Architects located in Iowa City and Des Moines, Iowa.

Based in Chicago and founded in 1950 by famed architects Eero Saarinen and Charles and Eames, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and most established awards program for innovation and visionary design.
