Theatre Cedar Rapids will mark its 100th anniversary Aug. 12 with a public celebration and groundbreaking for a major building renovation tied to its “Dream Here, Do Here” capital campaign.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at the theater, 102 Third St. SE, with a reception offering light refreshments, beverages and birthday treats. Remarks will start at 5 p.m., followed by a birthday toast and ceremonial groundbreaking at 5:15 p.m.
Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell and Theatre Cedar Rapids Executive Director Katie Hallman will speak during the program. Ms. O’Donnell also will present a mayoral proclamation declaring Aug. 12, 2025, as Theatre Cedar Rapids Day.
Guests will be invited to write personal birthday wishes on commemorative cards to be placed in a time capsule.
