The Olympic South Side Theater, a historic event venue in the New Bohemia neighborhood of Cedar Rapids, has announced in a social media post that it is looking for a new owner.

The venue, located on the second floor of 1202 3rd St. SE, Cedar Rapids, is currently owned by Steve Shriver, co-founder of Eco Lips, Brewhemia and SOKO Outfitters and opened its doors in 2020 after an extensive renovation.

“After five years of growth, The Olympic Theater is Officially for Sale! [sic]” a July 3 post on The Olympic’s Facebook page states. “We’re looking for someone to carry the torch and write the next chapter in this iconic space’s story. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a piece of local history, this is your chance!”

The post goes on to state that booked weddings and events will proceed as planned. The venue is known for hosting both public and private events.

Representatives of The Olympic could not be reached for comment Thursday, July 3. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.

The Olympic’s post specifies that those interested in purchasing the establishment can contact Jeff Hennessy from The Jennessy Group LLC at (319) 533-5580.
