
Becker’s Hospital Review has named UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, to its list of 100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs for 2024. St. Luke’s is the only hospital in Iowa on the list.
According to Becker’s, the list “showcases healthcare institutions celebrated for their outstanding cardiovascular care, superior patient outcomes and advanced technologies. These heart programs are also at the forefront of cardiology research, making impactful discoveries in the field. [They] frequently earn top rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades and other prestigious entities. Committed to excellence and growth, [these organizations] provide top-tier care for thousands of patients every year and continually expand their heart care capabilities.”
In the publication, Becker’s reported that St. Luke’s Nassif Heart & Vascular Center is a leading heart care facility and noted St. Luke’s 46-year commitment to introducing advanced treatments and procedures, including the region’s first cardiac rehab program, transcatheter aortic valve replacement and the MitraClip device. St. Luke’s remains the only hospital in Cedar Rapids to perform lead extractions, MitraClip and Watchman device implants. It is also the only heart program in Iowa with the American College of Cardiology’s transcatheter valve certification. With the largest team of heart specialists in the region, St. Luke’s offers extensive services across multiple dedicated heart and vascular programs, ensuring top-quality care for patients.
According to a news release, the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team assessed rankings and awards from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and more. Hospitals cannot pay to be included on the list. The names of winning hospitals were published online at beckershospitalreview.com.
