Southeast Services Corporation (SSC), an educational facilities management company, will lay off 31 employees in Mount Vernon, according to a notice posted to the Iowa Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) Act website.

The layoffs were announced July 11 and will be effective Aug. 11, according to the notice.

Southeast Services Corporation, doing business as Services for Education, is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee and was founded in 1980.

The company specializes in providing custodial services, grounds management and facilities maintenance for educational institutions.
