Ryan Companies US Inc. has moved into a new downtown office space at Kingston Yard, marking 35 years of operations in Cedar Rapids.
The Minneapolis-based commercial real estate company opened its first regional office in Cedar Rapids in 1989. The move to the 6,573-square-foot space represents the company’s continued commitment to the Cedar Rapids market.
“This isn’t just a new address, it’s a reflection of who we are and where we’re going,” said Dan Baxter, vice president of project development at Ryan Companies, in a release. “We’ve been proud to serve Cedar Rapids for 35 years, and this new office positions us for the next 35.”

Ryan Companies has completed dozens of projects in Cedar Rapids, including the U.S. Courthouse, CRST Center and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. Following the 2008 flood, the company worked on recovery projects including the restoration of the Paramount Theatre, Cedar Rapids Public Library, Cedar Rapids Central Fire Station and Cedar Rapids City Services Center. The company recently completed the Jewel & Jim Plumb Heart Center at Mercy Medical Center.
The new office was designed by Ryan A+E Inc., the company’s design studio. The space features windows on three sides, flexible work areas and a breakroom with lounge seating and private booths.
“After 25 years in our previous space, this move gave us the chance to ‘Ryan-ize’ our home,” Mr. Baxter said. “We wanted a place that feels energizing, aligned with our national offices, and uniquely Cedar Rapids.”
The Kingston Yard location provides visibility along Interstate 380, where Ryan’s name is displayed on the building.

Ryan Companies has Centers of Excellence in health care and industrial sectors and serves clients across Eastern Iowa and the Midwest. The company was founded in 1938 and has more than 1,700 employees in 17 offices.
“It’s more than just a new office,” Mr. Baxter said of the new Cedar Rapids office. “It’s a statement that we’re here for the long haul, growing with our people, our partners, and this incredible community.”
