Remodeled Perkins restaurant will reopen after fire last year

  • Perkins, almost fully remodeled following a fire in 2021, is set to open its doors once again Oct. 24 at 819 1st Avenue.

    Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Coralville at 819 1st Avenue is opening for business once again on Monday, Oct. 24, following a temporary closure and remodel.

    After first opening in Coralville nearly 50 years ago in 1974, the restaurant sustained $500,000 in damages from an accidental fire in July 2021, as reported by KCRG.

    It will be the first time the restaurant has reopened since the fire.
