President Robertson Marketing & Branding Corporation AGE: 39 What was your first job? McDonalds on Riverside Drive in Iowa City. Best advice you ever received? Jodi Connolly told me once, “Learn as if you will live forever.” What do you consider your biggest break so far? When I joined the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County. What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I was the extremely shy child and I used to be scared to approach people to say anything. What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Inclusion of diversity. I totally understand that is a goal and it’s a conversation that’s always on the table, but when you hit mute on that conversation and just look at the picture, it still needs a significant amount of help. If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? I would create minority scholarship programs for individuals looking to take certificated courses for skills improvement, continued education or to transition into other fields. What are your passions outside of the workplace? Honestly, just learning. From learning, you can not only improve yourself, you can improve others and your surroundings. What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We aren’t our grandparents. What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I want to be known as a Certified Door Opener, meaning someone who made major contributions to society and opened the door for other people.
