Pizza World in Cedar Rapids has found a new home for its restaurant and its soon-to-be Voodoo Brewing operation.
The Cedar Rapids location of the Branson, Missouri-based pizza chain, which opened in October 2019 at 4201 42nd St. NE, has announced it will be moving to The Fountains development at the intersection of Collins and Edgewood roads NE, near Hy-Vee.
Its last day of operation at the 42nd Street location will be Friday, Jan. 17.
In a Facebook announcement of the move, Pizza World representatives cited the upcoming “major construction project on 42nd Street” and its potential to impede traffic to the 42nd Street restaurant location.
“We’ve decided that moving Pizza World and Voodoo Brewing Co. Cedar Rapids to a new location is the best way to continue serving you safely and effectively,” the post says. “This wasn’t an easy choice, but we believe it’s the right one for our community, the stability of our business, and to avoid the challenges that other local businesses have faced during prolonged construction projects here in Cedar Rapids.”
The new location of Pizza World and the debuting Voodoo Brewing will open simultaneously, according to the post, sometime “in January/February.”
Original plans called for Pizza World to expand into a neighboring storefront on 42nd Street when Voodoo Brewing opened its doors.
