NewBo City Market Executive Director Julie Parisi is stepping down after seven years leading the nonprofit organization.
The market’s board announced Tuesday, Aug. 5 that a search is underway for a new executive director to continue operations and support its business incubation mission.
“NewBo City Market congratulates Julie on her seven years of service and exceptional leadership,” the board said in the announcement. “As Julie embarks on a new career path, the market extends its full support and best wishes for her future endeavors.”
Senior Director of Operations Sarah Blais and other staff members will oversee the market’s daily operations during the leadership transition.

During Ms. Parisi’s tenure, NewBo City Market launched the Next Level Local capital campaign, which set out to raise $4.3 million to improve its facilities. That fundraising goal has been reached, according to the board, but additional flood mitigation costs of more than $1 million have surfaced during the bidding process.
The board is reviewing design changes and seeking additional private and corporate donations to cover the extra expenses. Those adjustments have pushed back the timeline for construction, which is now expected to begin in early 2026 rather than September 2025.
The board said the planned updates are intended to enhance the market’s ability to support local businesses and community events.
NewBo City Market, which opened in 2012, operates as a nonprofit retail incubator and community hub, drawing more than 400,000 annual visitors.
