MidWestOne Financial Group Inc., parent company of MidWestOne Bank, will host the ninth annual Rock the Chalk event Aug. 8 in downtown Iowa City.
The event will feature chalk art created by local artists, live music and hands-on activities. Artists will create 8-by-8-foot chalk pieces on three blocks of downtown streets, which will be closed for the event.
“Rock the Chalk is MidWestOne’s big and vibrant thank you to the Iowa City community for their unwavering support throughout the years,” the company said in a release.
Street closures will include Washington Street between Clinton and Linn streets and Dubuque Street between Washington Street and Iowa Avenue.
Music begins at 1 p.m., and from 5 to 8 p.m. participants can engage in complimentary activities such as tie-dye socks, caricature drawings and rock painting. The event concludes at 8 p.m.
