Mercy endoscopy unit earns national recognition

Mercy Medical Center

The Endoscopy Unit at Mercy Medical Center has been awarded a three-year renewal recognition for quality and safety by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

The recognition is part of ASGE’s Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program, which promotes the highest standards in patient care and safety, according to a news release.

Mercy is one of only a select number of hospitals nationwide to receive this distinction since the program began in 2009.

“We are proud to be recognized once again by ASGE for our continued commitment to quality and safety,” said Dr. Bhavya Akhauri, medical director, Mercy Gastroenterology Clinic and Digestive Health Services. “This distinction reflects the dedication of our team to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care every day.”

To earn this recognition, Mercy’s Endoscopy Unit met rigorous criteria, including staff competency, infection control practices and adherence to ASGE’s quality guidelines.
