Maverik outlines transition plans for Kum & Go locations in Corridor

    Maverik has outlined its transition plans for the stores it purchased as part of its acquisition of Kum & Go in August 2023.

    In addition, an online search of Iowa lottery retailer records reveals that three former Kum & Go stores – two in Marion and one in Cedar Rapids – are now owned by Mega Saver, an Omaha-based company.

    Those three Mega Saver stores are located at 3215 Seventh Ave. and 1203 Blairs Ferry Road in Marion and at 2604 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids. It’s not clear exactly when the three stores were rebranded as Mega Saver locations.

    The area store-by-store schedule for rebranding Kum & Go stores to Maverik is as follows, according to Maverik’s website:

    • 2177 M Ave., Williamsburg: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 22.
    • 101 Village Drive, Tiffin: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 19, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 23.
    • 1178 Enterprise Drive, Riverside: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 20, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 24.
    • 2303 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 20, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 24.
    • 620 S Downey St., West Branch: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 24, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 28.
    • 2600 Holiday Road, Coralville: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 24, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 28.
    • 2050 IA Highway 38, Tipton: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 25, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 29.
    • 205 Second St., Coralville: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 25, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 29.
    • 731 South Riverside Drive, Iowa City: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 26, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 30.
    • 1310 S. Gilbert St., Iowa City: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 27, reopening at 6 a.m. Oct. 31.
    • 822 First Ave., Coralville: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 31, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 4.
    • 323 E. Burlington St., Iowa City: Closing at 6 p.m. Oct. 31, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 4.
    • 610 N. Kansas Ave., North Liberty: Closing at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 5.
    • 30 Four Oaks Drive SW, Cedar Rapids: Closing at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 5.
    • 3132 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids: Closing at 6 p.m. Nov. 2, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 6.
    • 1420 Mount Vernon Road SE, Cedar Rapids: Closing at 6 p.m. Nov. 2, reopening at 6 a.m. Nov. 6.

    The final Iowa stores to transition from Kum & Go to Maverik will be in western Iowa. All Iowa store transitions will be complete by Nov. 21, at which time Maverik will have 96 stores in Iowa.

    Maverik, a family-owned company that operates a chain of gasoline and convenience stores in 21 states, was founded in 1928 in Afton, Wyoming. It is known for its “BonFire” fresh food, exclusive gourmet products, and its connection to outdoor adventure themes.
