Kirkwood Community College will host the next meeting of its Benton County Leadership Council on Thursday, May 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Kirkwood Benton County Center, 111 W. 3rd St. in Vinton. The meeting is open to the public.
The gathering is a continuation of Kirkwood’s efforts to engage rural communities in shaping the future of workforce and education initiatives. The council, which convened for the first time last fall, brings together local leaders from across sectors to discuss how the college’s resources are being used and how they might better serve Benton County.
“Kirkwood’s goal is to be a valuable partner in Benton County’s growth, and this meeting allows us to hear directly from those we serve,” said Kasey Keeling, director of the Kirkwood Benton County Center. “By working together, we can continue to develop programs that align with local workforce needs and create more opportunities for success. It’s important that we continue adapting to meet the changing demands of businesses and job seekers alike. We encourage everyone to join the conversation and share their insights.”
The May 15 meeting will focus on Kirkwood’s current workforce and training programs in the county, with time set aside to gather input from attendees on how the college can further address local needs. It builds on discussions held during the Oct. 14 council meeting, where leaders from business, education, faith, and other sectors met to examine the future of higher education and economic development in the region.
