The Johnson County Board of Supervisors has opened applications for Economic Development and Quality of Life Grants for Fiscal Year 2026.
During its yearly budgeting process, the board allocates funds to promote economic development and enhance the quality of life for Johnson County and its residents.
This year, $105,000 has been allocated for the Economic Development grant program, with individual awards ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.
According to a release, the Economic Development grants are available to 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations that serve the county and address at least one of the four following priority areas:
- Housing and infrastructure access
- Rural economic development
- Agriculture, agritourism and local foods
- Business and storefront improvement
“Competitive applications will demonstrate diverse growth, sustainability, measurable impacts and local investments for local results,” the release stated.
The Quality of Life grant, which has been allocated $60,000, is offering $1,000 to $5,000 in operational and programming support to nonprofits whose projects are free, open to the public and ADA compliant.
“The Board of Supervisors designated this year’s theme as ‘Community Engagement and Events,’” the release stated. “Applicants should demonstrate how they will promote the County’s cultural, ethnic, and historical heritages through the development of festivals, community events, cultural programs and/or tourism projects.”
Applications are open until 4 p.m. June 6, and an informational webinar will be held May 22 at 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/grants.
