The Iowa Children’s Museum has received a $20,000 operating support grant through the Cultural Leadership Partners Program from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

The funding will support on-site and outreach programs at the Coralville museum, which serves more than 180,000 people annually through exhibits, programs and events focused on play-based learning.

The grant will help maintain and refresh interactive exhibits, according to museum officials.

“We are grateful for the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s continued investment in cultural organizations like ours,” said Jeff Capps, executive director. “This support allows us to reach more children, break down barriers to accessible play, and continue creating joyful, meaningful experiences for our community.”

The nonprofit museum provides hands-on, interactive learning experiences covering science, technology, engineering, art and math. The organization partners with more than 100 community organizations to promote play as a foundation for academic success, healthy development and artistic expression.
