Hy-Vee Health Exemplar Care has opened a new medical clinic in Cedar Rapids, expanding its direct primary care model with a new location at 3900 Fountains Blvd. NE.
The clinic, part of Hy-Vee, Inc.’s growing health care offering, provides membership-based medical services to employer groups, families and individuals. Members receive unlimited access to primary care and walk-in services for a fixed monthly fee, with no copays or per-visit charges.
“Our providers are committed to delivering convenient, quality care at an affordable and transparent price that patients and employers can feel good about,” Dr. Daniel Fick, Hy-Vee’s senior vice president and chief medical officer, said in a release.
In-person appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with members also able to contact providers via text, email or telehealth.
The model is designed to lower overall medical costs by encouraging regular care without insurance billing for each visit. It can be used alongside a traditional health insurance plan or as a standalone service.
Membership also includes priority access for walk-in care, giving members expedited treatment. Non-members can access walk-in services for common non-emergency issues such as cold and flu symptoms, minor injuries and infections. Most insurance plans are accepted, and online reservations are available.
Hy-Vee acquired a joint ownership stake in Exemplar Care in early 2024. The venture has since been rebranded as Hy-Vee Health Exemplar Care, with locations now operating in Ankeny, Bondurant, Coralville, Cedar Falls, Davenport and West Des Moines, as well as in Omaha, Nebraska; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Overland Park, Kansas; and Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
