Greater Iowa City Inc., a network of business and public sector leaders that support local companies, guide investment and boost economic development in Johnson County, has launched a new initiative aimed at fostering collaboration among human resource professionals across the region.
The Human Resources (HR) Circle, a quarterly gathering of HR leaders from mid- to large-scale employers, is designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, best practices, and strategies to navigate both current and emerging trends in the workforce.
“As new workforce challenges emerge and existing challenges progress, our area’s employers have growing concerns of how to best address the issues they are frequently fronted with,” a release stated. “Human resource professionals are in a unique position to understand where their employer is positioned in regards to workforce development, hiring, and other staffing matters.”
At each meeting, participants will select a key topic of interest, ranging from challenges and successes to future industry developments, and engage in focused discussions to share their experiences and insights.
“The interchanging of ideas and sharing of information amongst the circle will allow our employers to be highly attentive to previous and new challenges, successes, and best practices, ultimately resulting in a more informed work environment and a resilient local workforce,” the release said.
The HR Circle held its inaugural meeting in Sept. 12 at MERGE in Iowa City.
