Field Day Brewing has released a new brew to support the development of Centennial Park in North Liberty.
Centennial Smash, a strawberry kiwi sour, is available on tap and in cans at Field Day’s taproom, located at 925 Liberty Way. The beer will also be featured at the brewery’s Pig & Pint event on July 17, with proceeds supporting free public programming in Centennial Park in 2026, a release stated.
“It’s very fruit-forward, vibrant and juicy,” said Alec Travis with Field Day Brewing. “We’re excited to launch this new beer to continue to show our excitement for North Liberty’s growth – and we look forward to having a drink during a concert in 2026 at Centennial Park’s new amphitheater.”
With the tagline “Smash Thirst, Build Community,” Centennial Smash continues Field Day’s fundraising efforts for Building North Liberty’s Next Stage campaign. The brewery is donating $1 for every pint sold at the taproom and every 4-pack purchased to-go, aiming to raise $50,000. The beer follows the success of Centennial Park Pilsner, which has already raised more than $11,500 for the cause.
According to the release, proceeds will continue to be directed to the campaign’s designated fund at the Community Foundation of Johnson County.
“We’ve been the home for the park’s campaign fund since the City launched the effort in 2023,” said Community Foundation of Johnson County President and CEO Shelly Maharry. “We appreciate the awareness Field Day has raised for our organization and Centennial Park through their partnership with the City.”
The multi-phase project broke ground in 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2030. The first phase includes the indoor Hy-Vee Center, which is scheduled to begin hosting events in November. The connected outdoor stage, the Hy-Vee Amphitheater, will open for its first season in summer 2026.
Future phases include a splash pad currently in design, an open-air pavilion and an honor garden. Once complete, the entertainment park is projected to generate $11.6 million annually in economic impact.
The capital campaign for the park is ongoing, with a goal of $3.5 million. To date, more than $3.2 million has been raised.
