Fairfax State Savings Bank is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year.
Chartered in 1924, the bank started as a small local institution providing high-quality service and personal banking relationships. A century later, those principles remain intact, bank officials said in a release.
Nestled in the heart of Fairfax, a rapidly-growing city of nearly 3,000, Fairfax State Savings Bank maintains its status as a true community bank, providing a full spectrum of commercial and consumer banking services, from personal and business lending to agribusiness loans and wealth management.
Fairfax State Savings Bank has served an estimated 250,000 customers and opened 625,000 accounts during its tenure. With $280 million in assets, Fairfax State Savings Bank matches the financial prowess of corporate institutions while providing service with a local touch.
“It doesn’t take a century to learn that banking isn’t about money. It’s about relationships,” said president and CEO Patrick Slater.
Fairfax State Savings Bank has three locations in Iowa: Fairfax, Amana, and a new office that opened in Cedar Rapids’ Kingston Village in 2022.
The bank is planning a Centennial Jubilee in honor of the 100th anniversary. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. under the bank’s large flag.
