The Eastern Iowa Airport recorded its ninth consecutive record month for passengers in September, with traffic 3.2% higher than the previous September.
Year-to-date passenger traffic at CID is up 8% compared to the same period in 2024.
Airport Director Marty Lenss said with additional seats available for holiday travel, the Eastern Iowa Airport is on pace to set its third consecutive annual passenger record. The airport served 1.4 million passengers in 2023 and 1.5 million in 2024.
“We are reaching these numbers because airlines are investing in this region with additional seats and passengers across Eastern Iowa and beyond are filling them,” Mr. Lenss said in a release. “Thank you to the airlines for believing in this market and thank you to passengers who are choosing CID for their travel.”
Capacity for November and December is expected to increase 16% and 14%, respectively, over the same months last year.
American Airlines’ seasonal Saturday-only flight to Miami International Airport returns Nov. 8. The airline is also adding a third daily nonstop flight to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in December.
For University of Iowa football fans, Delta is offering nonstop flights from Portland for the Oregon game, to Los Angeles for the USC game and from Detroit for the Michigan State game in Iowa City.
The Eastern Iowa Airport offers nonstop service to 17 destinations through five airlines: Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, Frontier Airlines and United Airlines.
