A Cedar Rapids-based donut shop is expanding again – this time as part of a return to Iowa City.
Donutland will be taking over operation of Daylight Donuts in Iowa City as of March 1, Daylight owners announced on their Facebook page Sunday.
Daylight’s last day of operation will be Feb. 27, according to the Facebook post, and the store, at 1681 S. First Ave., will reopen as Donutland on March 1.

“We would like to extend a humble thank you to all of our loyal customers these past eleven years,” the Facebook post says. “It was our privilege that you allowed us to share in your daily lives and special occasions. We have made many close acquaintances and friendships that won’t be forgotten.”
Donutland’s previous Iowa City location on Highway 1 West closed several years ago, so the latest move marks a full return to the Iowa City market, though Donutland’s offerings are also available at Press Coffee Company in Coralville.
Donutland also recently announced plans to reopen its location at 2606 Williams Blvd. SW in late March or early April. That location had previously closed in 2005.
Other new Donutland locations could be opening in the near future, store officials said.
