Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its CRBT “Movies on the Riverbank” event series beginning on June 14, with free family-friendly outdoor film screenings.
The summer event will take place on June 14, July 12 and August 2 at the McGrath Amphitheatre, 475 First St. SW, and is open to the public at no cost. Gates open at 7 p.m., followed by free children’s activities, with movies beginning at sunset.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the natural tiered seating. On-street parking and food vendors will be available on-site.
The 2025 season will open on June 14 with a screening of Inside Out 2 (2024), the animated sequel exploring new emotional experiences during adolescence. The event will feature a special appearance by University of Iowa basketball player Hannah Stuelke, who will be signing autographs and posing for photos from 7 to 8 p.m. Attendees are limited to one item for signing per person.
On July 12, the event will screen Despicable Me 4 (2024), in which Gru and his growing family face a new villain, Maxime Le Mal. The final installment on August 2 will feature Moana 2 (2024), where the titular character ventures into uncharted waters following a call from her ancestors.
Originally launched as a gesture of appreciation to clients and the community, the CRBT “Movies on the Riverbank” has grown into a staple summer event in Cedar Rapids. Organizers credit its two-decade longevity to consistent local support.
The series is presented by Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, with Z102.9 serving as media sponsor.
“Reaching this milestone wouldn’t be possible without the community’s support,” organizers said in the event announcement.
