D1 Training, a national athletic-based fitness franchise, will mark the grand opening of its newest location in Coralville on Saturday, May 10. The facility, located at 2441 James St. Suite 2, brings D1’s sports-science-backed training model to the region, offering programs for both youth and adults.
The grand opening celebration, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., invites residents of Coralville, Iowa City, North Liberty and surrounding communities to meet the team, tour the facility, and enjoy a day of fitness-themed festivities.
The event will feature athletic demonstrations, local vendors, raffles, and training specials. Visitors will also have the chance to observe live training sessions taking place on the turf and in the weight room.
Franchise owner Lisa Lepic, a longtime education executive and Iowa City native, spent 25 years in leadership roles across the education sector before deciding to focus her efforts locally.
“When I started thinking about my next chapter, I knew I wanted to own a business that truly mattered to me and could make a positive impact on the community,” Ms. Lepic said, in a release. “With D1, I have the chance to support kids in my community, helping them become the best versions of themselves – not just in sports, but in all areas of life. I also get to help adults achieve their sports-based or overall fitness goals. I couldn’t be more excited to bring this new facility and service to Coralville, giving families a place where their children can thrive.”
D1 Training programs are organized by age and skill level, with offerings for Rookies, ages seven to 11; Developmental, ages 12–14; Prep, ages 15–18, and D1 adult. Each session is built around five core components: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down.
“Lisa is the ideal candidate to bring the D1 Training experience to Coralville,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy. “D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their athletic goals.”
