ChildServe, a leading pediatric healthcare provider, recently announced the organization is expanding its reach in eastern Iowa by opening a new facility in Davenport.

The 9,865-square-foot space, located at 935 E 53rd St., will offer autism services, as well as outpatient rehabilitation therapy, including speech, occupational and physical therapy. The ChildServe – Davenport location is anticipated to open in early 2026. That site is located near the busy East 53rd Street-Tremont Avenue intersection.

The new ChildServe will be in an existing building at 935 E 53rd St. The health care provider will be renovating that space in the coming months.

“ChildServe is excited to expand our reach in Eastern Iowa. We’re not just expanding, we’re taking a proactive approach to helping children with special healthcare needs live a great life,”  Dr. Teri Wahlig, ChildServe president and CEO, said in a news release. “We’ve experienced significant growth on our waitlists across the state. Specifically, we’ve seen an increased need for autism services, and we are making significant investments with a dedicated effort to serve more Iowa children.”

“We’re embracing new possibilities and new partnerships to meet families where they are on their healthcare journey,” Dr. Wahlig added.

The Davenport opening is part of ChildServe’s regional growth strategy, which has included doubling the size of the organization’s facilities in Ames and Iowa City, the relocation and expansion of its Des Moines campus, and an expansion into Cedar Rapids, all within the past three years. The organization’s headquarter campus remains in Johnston, Iowa, and has continued to experience growth, becoming Iowa’s only pediatric specialty hospital earlier this year.

“ChildServe provides a continuum of services for children with special healthcare needs in four specialty areas: autism services, pediatric rehabilitation, complex medical care and community-based services,” Dr. Wahlig said. “We partner with local hospitals, pediatric specialists and healthcare providers to improve outcomes, and we’re thrilled to bring ChildServe’s expertise a little closer to home for Davenport families.”

To bring ChildServe’s new Davenport location to life, the organization launched a $1 million campaign to support capital and start-up costs. To learn how you can make a contribution, visit www.childserve.org/donate.
