Cedar Rapids to prioritize Eighth Avenue bridge, postpone pump station, dam bypass channel projects

State-funded grant reduced to $6 million, which is designated for First and First West parking ramp project

In order to prioritize the construction of the Eighth Avenue bridge in Cedar Rapids, city officials have postponed the development of two other infrastructure projects.

In an email to the CBJ, city development staff said construction of the Eighth Avenue bridge over the Cedar River, previously dubbed the Arc of Justice bridge, “is integral to the completion of the Flood Control System and critical to preserving a local traffic route…
