Therapist, Cedar Rapids Site Coordinator Covenant Family Solutions AGE: 38 What was your first job? Day care provider. Best advice you ever received? You are always right where you are supposed to be. There is no rush. You cannot mess it up. The world is better because you are here, because you are purposed to be here, or you wouldn’t be.  What do you consider your biggest break so far? Being removed from my biological home at age 6. Without this opportunity, I wonder if everything in my life would have been so very different. What would most people be surprised to learn about you? That I aged out of the foster care system. Add that to being the sole provider for my children after leaving a toxic relationship, running an office and being a foster parent. What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? COVID-19 mixed with the political and religious climate has created division and divide.  If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? Families Helping Families and Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association, Chelsea’s Dream Foundation. What are your passions outside of the workplace? Reading, camping, hiking, being outdoors, spending time with my family and traveling. What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? Our generation in the workplace gives more than they ask for. I have watched numerous employees being willing to serve and desire to make a difference without asking for more. What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I want to write a book. I want to share my story in a way that sheds light on how limitless we can be despite hard things, difficult circumstances and challenging roads.
