Assistant Director Johnson County Ambulance Service AGE: 37 What was your first job? Bagging groceries at Fareway Food Stores. Best advice you ever received? To always put problems that we face into perspective and do not allow the small issues to consume us.  What do you consider your biggest break so far? My employment at Kirkwood allowed me to get my graduate education that has helped me immensely in my career. It has set me up with a skill set that I would not have been able to get through experience alone.  What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I have not had a soda since Jan. 13, 2008. I made this decision about 20 minutes before I met a woman who would turn out to be my wife. Neither of these events are related, but since they happened so close together, it helps me to remember the date. What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? The shortage of health care workers in the entire industry and how it impacts all of us.  If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? CommUnity and Waypoint Services. What are your passions outside of the workplace? I love spending time with my family, serving on Ely City Council, dabbling in the stock market, reading and running.  What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? This generation is very open-minded and accepting of differences in the workplace. I will also add that in general, we tend to be more tech savvy than previous generations. What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? To continue improving our ambulance service, helping Ely prosper and most importantly is to have raised great children.
