CBJ names 2024 Fastest Growing Companies

Here at the CBJ, the Fastest Growing Companies list is seen as a way for us to celebrate the local entrepreneurs and companies that help the Corridor thrive through economic development and workforce innovation, which is why we are excited to bring you this list once again in 2024.

If you have been a CBJ subscriber for a while, you may have noticed that many companies make it onto the list repeatedly throughout the years, though this year, a newcomer has snagged the top slot – Paul Davis Restoration.

The company – more specifically, the Cedar Rapids location of the franchise – has grown by more than 200% over a two-year period as calculated by accounting firm Honkamp P.C. It opened its doors for business during the pandemic in August 2020, coinciding with the derecho that ripped through Iowa. Based on revenue numbers from 2022 to 2023, Corridor companies making the list averaged 55.9% growth, ranging from 12.87% for 25th place finisher CCR Inc. of Cedar Rapids to Paul Davis Restoration’s impressive 278.29% debut.

Urbana-based Clickstop broke its own record once more, with a 14th consecutive appearance on the list at No. 22 and 21.2% growth.

Other companies racking up multiple appearances on the list this year include Almost Famous Popcorn (No. 2); Corridor Network Construction, Inc. (No. 4); ProCircular (No. 9); and Otter Creek Country Stores, Inc. (No. 24) among others.

Several newcomers landed on the 2024 list, including Tomaso's Pizza Cedar Rapids (No. 5); Integrative Health & Hormone Clinic (No. 6); Rabe Hardware (No. 11); and KT Pacer (No. 22).

Cedar Rapids once again had the largest number of fastest growing companies, with 12 companies on the list. Perhaps a bit of a surprise, Hiawatha had the second-largest number with five on the list, three more than either Marion or Iowa City with two each. Coralville, Blairstown, North Liberty and Urbana each had one top 25 finalist.

Nominations for 2024’s Fastest Growing list were solicited in April. To apply, companies had to demonstrate revenue of at least $350,000 in each of the fiscal years ending 2021, 2022 and 2023, and be headquartered in Kirkwood’s seven-county region. Honkamp, P.C. ranked nominees according to revenue growth over a two-year period, with consideration given to both dollar and percentage increases.

This year’s Entrepreneur of the Year is actually double the fun, with Oasis Falafel co-founders Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan both being chosen for the honor. Read about the beginning of their entrepreneurial journeys, and their ambitious expansion to retail in recent years on page 1.

Honorees were recognized on June 11 at a ceremony held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids. The event was sponsored by Honkamp P.C., Mount Mercy University and the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
