What was your first job? Receptionist at a dance studio (age 14).
How long have you been in your current job? 12 years.
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Taking for granted the impact that public schooling has on a community. Public schools are the roots from which a community is able to flourish and grow. Through the public schools, we are preparing the future community members, the future workforce, the future of the town/city. We should ALL care about public schools! If you love your community, please remember the future is being prepared within the walls of our public schools, and that impacts us all.
Best advice you ever received? Find the balance.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? Two happy, confident, thriving girls (Ray and Ruby)!
What are your passions outside of the workplace? Loving my family! I’m so lucky that EVERYONE is here in Cedar Rapids. My free time is dedicated to my family. You can find me anywhere (usually at home) with Ben, Ray, Ruby and Homer. It’s rare that a week goes by that we don’t spend time with the rest of the crew: Mark, Becky, Deb, Charlie, Emily, Sean, Mollie, Joe, Holly, Nick, Sara, Laila, Max, Charli, Ella, Mac, Nora and Luke. I love you all!
What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I have been a vegetarian for 30 years!
