The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) recorded 146,643 passengers in October, marking the tenth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger traffic.

The October total represents a 7.3% increase over the 136,668 passengers recorded in October 2024. Year-to-date passenger traffic is up 8% compared to the same period in 2024.

In a news release, Eastern Iowa director Marty Lenss attributed the continued record growth to Eastern Iowans choosing to fly from CID.

“We are often asked, ‘How can we help grow the airport?'” Mr. Lenss said. “The number one way is to fly out of CID for business and leisure travel. Airlines will consider CID for expanded capacity and the addition of new nonstop services when their existing flights are full.”

The airport is also on track to set its third consecutive annual passenger record. CID served 1.4 million passengers in 2023 and 1.5 million in 2024.

With the Iowa Hawkeyes football team scheduled to play Dec. 31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa Bay, Mr. Lenss said fans should consider Allegiant’s nonstop flight to Tampa/St. Pete or nearby airports such as Sarasota Bradenton. American Airlines connections through Charlotte and Delta Air Lines connections through Atlanta are also options. Destinations Unlimited is organizing a charter flight departing CID on Dec. 29 and returning Jan. 1.

Airport operations have also increased. Total takeoffs and landings from January through October rose 5% year-to-date. Civil aviation operations, which include flights related to the Coe College Aviation Management & Flight Operations program that launched this fall, jumped 190% in October. Civil operations totaled 1,134 in October 2025, compared to 391 in October 2024.

“More operations add to growth for the airport, and increased economic development for Eastern Iowa,” Mr. Lenss said.

CID offers nonstop service to 17 destinations through five airlines: Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, Frontier Airlines and United Airlines. The airport is also served by three air cargo carriers: FedEx, DHL and UPS.
