Foodliner officials have announced plans to open a new trucking terminal location in southwest Cedar Rapids.

The new terminal will begin operations Oct. 1 and be fully operational by the end of the year, according to a release.

The new terminal will be located at 5020 18th Ave. SW, at a facility previously utilized for CRST’s NADTA truck driving school before that program was closed in late 2022.

The site will house drivers, a manager, and a full-service shop, company officials said.

The opening of the Cedar site brings Foodliner full circle, as the nation’s largest food-grade bulk distribution trucking carrier previously operated a terminal in Cedar Rapids.

The company decided to open the new Cedar Rapids location as a strategic move, according to Mike O’Connor, Foodliner’s vice president of operations.

“The addition of the Cedar Rapids terminal will allow for our team to better serve our drivers and customers in this market, while adding additional business opportunities,” Mr. O’Connor said.

The Cedar Rapids market is currently served from Foodliner’s terminal in Eddyville. The Eddyville location will remain fully operational, providing service to customers and stakeholders in southeast Iowa.

The new Foodliner Cedar Rapids location is hosting a recruiting luncheon Thursday, Sept. 28 to welcome prospective drivers and diesel technicians to learn about career opportunities. Job seekers are invited to visit the terminal between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. A complimentary lunch will be served.
